"The large object swings over text, both as a crude aspergillum and a universal diacritic. The writings on the floor–pages from novels and criticism, notes on paper, sketches on whiteboards–are vulnerable and need blessing and reinforcement. But they aren't defenseless; the texts I chose are unruly and might only be constrained and demeaned by such an absurd gesture. In this piece is a deep uncertainty about, and fascination with, text, writing, and our relationship to both. Technology has only been a force multiplier. Whatever their source, words pull, distort, and orbit their surroundings to a dynamic degree impossible to predict. It is no accident that "xoxo" is a creature of gravity, a collection of masses oscillating, colliding, and swaying. I grab my quill: how616 glorious heavens creation that all orbits earth AND ink123!" -Greg Smith
