Though the barn depicted in the painting is not the same one she grew up with, it recalls her childhood in Amityville, New York, where she spent time painting in the attic of her family’s barn. The work reflects Gangloff’s deep connection to rural environments and the introspective calm they offer. Her use of detail and texture imbues the scene with a meditative stillness, suggesting a personal familiarity with the space. As with much of Gangloff’s work, the subject matter feels intimate and reflective, allowing the viewer to see through her eyes and experience a place infused with memory and meaning.Exhibitions
