Expanding upon his early work obscuring and protecting his subjects with a near-impenetrable swaths of staples, Wilson now reduces his compositions to their basic elemental components. Removing the underlying image, the staple now appears as a fully expressive line drawing a portrait that appears and disappears as the viewer passes. Wilson expresses the experience of Black visibility, hypervisibility, and invisibility in his own words.
